Welcome To My World...

I'm so excited to be launching my very first collection. This experience has truly been a dream come true. I want to thank all of my supporters and new visitors to my site/blog. I am currently in preparation for my fashion Debut Dec 2, 2010 at the New Art Gallery. More information about it will be up soon! In the meantime here's a little information about me. Enjoy.

ABOUT ME
Kareen Borgella is an American based fashion designer in New York. Originally a pre-med student at Hofstra University in 1998, Kareen took up evening sculpting and art courses as a way to fulfill her creative side, not knowing that learning about the intricate elements of form and proportion would eventually lead to a successful career in fashion design. After two years of studying pre-med, Kareen's passion for fashion continued to brew and she decided to enroll in Parsons School Of Design, before transferring to FIT in 2001.

Kareen's road to success has been a picture of endless possibilities. During her internship at Espirit, Kareen landed a position at Golden Touch, the licensed based company for Dots and Joyce Leslie, where she learned everything from designing and development to dye techniques. It wasn't long before Kareen was on her way to the top as a technical designer for companies such as Marc Ecko’s Ecko Red.

Mastering the art of technical design, Kareen was offered a position at J.Crew in 2005 where she continued to soar, ultimately landing a golden opportunity to work with Armani Exchange. Working with Armani Exchange helped Kareen to understand the required Italian fit, as it was her job to act as a liaison with the factories overseas. Kareen recalls traveling to Italy to work alongside the Italian technicians as the best mental experience she has ever had.

As Kareen's credibility grew, so did her passion for developing her very own collection. Kareen's goal was always to design, but believes that the technical aspect has not only contributed to her knowledge of constructing clothes to perfectly fit the body, but also how to properly select fabrics and implement different finishes to create beautiful clothing. As a designer, Kareen hopes to leave her mark for her creative style, as well as for her designs that understand what is most flattering to a woman’s natural curves.

Now in 2010, after years of designing for other fashion brands, Kareen has developed a luxury contemporary line of her own for women. Kareen describes her line as “feminine pieces coated with charm and character. Just an instinctive aspiration to create beautiful things for the modern day fashionista.”
